In a joint statement, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Defence Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong described the treaty as a longstanding foundation of regional defence cooperation.
The statement says the United States remains Australia's closest ally and principal strategic partner. It also emphasises the continuing Australia–New Zealand security partnership and efforts towards increasingly integrated defence operations.
