Hawthorn have ended North Melbourne's record 32-game AFLW winning streak with a 4.8 (32) to 3.7 (25) victory at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns.

The seven-point Round 6 result on Friday night was Hawthorn's fourth win of the 2026 season and its most significant AFLW victory since joining the competition in 2022. North Melbourne's unbeaten sequence had stretched back to the 2023 grand final and included consecutive premierships.

Hawthorn recovered from a 10-point half-time deficit and increased its pressure after the break. Jasmine Fleming finished with 25 disposals and four clearances, while Eilish Sheerin recorded a game-high 30 possessions for North Melbourne.

Cairns native Jacqui Dupuy kicked a fourth-quarter goal before Lucy Wales added the late sealer. The final statistics showed the teams level on 64 tackles, while Hawthorn won the inside-50 count 34-30.
