Queensland says government procurement from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses reached $814 million in the 2025–26 financial year, with 619 Indigenous businesses securing state contracts.

The figures were released as Indigenous Business Month began, alongside a programme of networking and buyer events intended to help businesses enter government and industry supply chains.

Far North Queensland events listed by the state include a networking session on Thursday Island on 14 October, an Indigenous small business event in Cairns on 22 October and a Mapoon start-up workshop on 28 October.

The procurement figures are Queensland Government totals for the past financial year. They do not indicate how much was spent in Cairns or guarantee that new contracts will result from the upcoming events.
