Elena Rybakina has won her first US Open singles title, defeating defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in the women’s final in New York.

Rybakina recovered after losing the second set and took control of the deciding set to close out the championship. The victory also confirms that she will take over the world No. 1 ranking.

The title is Rybakina’s third Grand Slam singles crown and her second major of 2026. She also defeated Sabalenka in the Australian Open final earlier this year.

Sabalenka had won the previous two US Open titles, but Rybakina’s strong serving and composed final set ended that run at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
