Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service plans to conduct burns in Grey Peaks National Park from Thursday 8 October to Monday 12 October, subject to weather conditions.
The service says smoke may be visible across the greater Cairns and Yarrabah area. People with respiratory or other health problems are advised to seek medical advice on reducing the effects of smoke inhalation.
The agency says the burns are intended to support ecological health and reduce future bushfire risk. This is a notice of planned operations, not a report of an uncontrolled fire. Timing may change with the weather.
Residents and visitors should check the current Grey Peaks park alert for updates and the Queensland Fire Department warnings for any separate fire warnings.
