Visitors planning a walk around Lake Barrine on the Atherton Tablelands will need to change their plans while the circuit track is temporarily closed.

Queensland Parks says a localised weather event brought down a tree and caused structural damage to a bridge on the track. The closure applies from 7 October through 4 November 2026, inclusive, while crews remove the tree and repair the bridge.

The department says the Twin Kauri viewing platform remains open, but visitors must use the bottom car park to reach it. Rangers ask visitors to follow barriers and signs and stay out of closed areas.

Anyone travelling to Crater Lakes National Park should check the current Queensland Parks alert before setting out, as access information may change.
