The Socceroos came within seconds of a rare victory over Brazil before a stoppage-time header secured a 1–1 draw in Townsville.
Nestory Irankunda put Australia ahead with a curling free kick from about 20 metres in the second half. Brazil substitute Rayan equalised in the 95th minute, heading a corner in off the underside of the crossbar.
Australia created early chances and had a first-half Brazil goal overturned after a VAR review. Brazil increased the pressure late in the match as the Socceroos defended deep, but the visitors' equaliser arrived with the final attacking phase.
The match was the first of two Queensland friendlies between the sides. They are scheduled to meet again at Brisbane's Lang Park on 29 September.
