Queensland Children's Hospital recorded seven children admitted for more than 24 hours after serious e-scooter or e-bike incidents from July to September 2026, according to figures released by the Queensland Government on 20 October.

The same government statement gives 18 such admissions from January to March and 16 from April to June. The July-to-September figure is therefore lower than in either earlier quarter at this one hospital. It is not a statewide count of all e-mobility injuries.

New Queensland e-mobility rules took effect on 1 July. Ministers say the smaller number is an encouraging early sign, but the comparison alone cannot establish that the laws caused the decrease. Seasonal use, exposure and other factors are not addressed in the statement.

The government also reports more than 600 non-compliant devices seized and 2,812 traffic infringement notices issued since the changes began. Hospital paediatric surgery director Professor Roy Kimble warned that serious injuries remain possible and urged properly fitted helmets.
