Brisbane motorists paid the highest average fuel prices among Australia's five largest capitals in the September 2026 quarter, according to a new RACQ report released on 14 October.
RACQ calculated an average of 199.2 cents per litre for regular unleaded in Brisbane during the quarter, 10.6 cents higher than in the previous quarter. Diesel averaged 242 cents per litre, down from 245.6 cents in the June quarter, the motoring group said.
RACQ attributed the pressure partly to higher refinery margins and said competition among service stations also varies between cities. Its figures describe a completed quarter, not the price at every pump today.
Motorists can compare current local prices before filling up; the quarterly averages are a broad measure and individual stations may differ substantially.
