Short films made by Far North Queensland high-school students will be shown in Cairns tonight as Understory High returns to Tank 5 at the Tanks Arts Centre.
According to Cairns Regional Council, the screening and awards presentation is scheduled for Friday 9 October, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. A shortlist of student films has been selected; the program also includes awards judged by screen-industry practitioners.
Understory High is in its fourth year and focuses on emerging filmmakers and animators from across the region. Council says winning films will also be screened at the wider Understory Film Festival in November.
Entries for this year's student showcase are closed. People planning to attend can check ticket availability through the Council's Understory event page before travelling.
