India’s PM E-DRIVE electric-mobility programme has supported 26.59 lakh vehicle sales as of June 2026, according to a new government factsheet.

The programme was launched in 2024 and now carries an outlay of ₹11,900 crore, with implementation extended until March 2028. It covers incentives for several vehicle categories alongside electric buses, public charging infrastructure and upgrades to testing facilities.

The government says the scheme can support about 28.30 lakh electric vehicles. By August, 14,000 of a planned 14,028 electric buses had been allocated, while ₹2,000 crore was earmarked for public charging stations.

As of 28 September, grant support worth ₹851 crore had been approved for 8,147 chargers involving three oil-marketing companies and ten states. The reported figures describe approvals and supported sales; they should not be read as confirmation that every funded bus or charger is already operating.
