Residents and travellers near Ravenshoe and Tumoulin may see smoke as Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service carries out weather-dependent planned burns in several Tablelands parks on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October.

The service's alert covers Tully Falls, Maalan, Koombooloomba, Wooroonooran and Gadgarra national parks, as well as Ravenshoe Forest Reserve 1. It says no visitor facilities are expected to be affected by the operations.

The alert does not say that every burn has taken place; the work depends on conditions. Queensland Parks says people with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice about reducing smoke exposure.

Visitors should check the current Queensland Parks alert before travelling, because park conditions can change. Current bushfire warnings and incidents are available from the Queensland Fire Department.
