A handball court in Trebonne, near Ingham, remains a visible reminder of Basque migrants who worked in North Queensland's sugar-growing communities in the 1950s.

Hinchinbrook Shire Council describes the Pelota Mano Court as Queensland's only purpose-built Basque fronton. The court is associated with pelota mano, a handball game played against a front wall and a side wall.

The court was built in 1959 and entered on the Queensland Heritage Register in 2001, according to ABC North Queensland's 18 October report. A Queensland Government heritage information sheet also identifies the court as evidence of Basque migration to the region.

The site connects a small town's cultural history with the wider story of migrants in the cane industry. Its heritage status is longstanding; the court was not newly listed this year.
