Queensland small businesses can now apply for a new round of security funding that includes work vehicles and tools as well as fixed premises, according to a 23 October state announcement.
The individual small-business grants range from $1,500 to $20,000 for eligible mobile projects and from $2,500 to $20,000 for fixed-premises projects. Examples include alarms, lighting, surveillance, access controls and physical protection. Applicants must contribute half of eligible project costs. This round is open until 5pm on 23 April 2027 unless funding runs out earlier.
A separate shared-security stream offers $20,000 to $200,000 for projects that directly benefit at least two eligible small businesses. It also requires a 50% contribution and closes at 5pm on 29 January 2027. Funding is competitive, so meeting the criteria does not guarantee approval.
Businesses in Cairns and elsewhere in Queensland should check the official eligibility rules before applying. The program lists requirements including an active ABN, GST registration, a Queensland headquarters and limits on staff numbers and turnover for small-business applicants.
